Abstract
Acroceras Stapf (1920: 621) is a cosmopolitan grass genus with about 20 species (Zuloaga et al. 1988). Five of them are known to America, of which four are native according to Zuloaga & Morrone (2003): A. chaseae Zuloaga & Morrone (1988: 198), A. excavatum (Henrard 1926: 179) Zuloaga & Morrone (1988: 195), A. fluminense (Hackel 1901: 457) Zuloaga & Morrone (1988: 197), and A. zizanioides (Kunth 1816: 82) Dandy (1931: 54). The other species, A. macrum Stapf (1920: 624), is an African representative, introduced in Guyana and Suriname (Zuloaga & Morrone 2003).
